CAD: COMPUTER-AIDED DRAFTING & DESIGN WITH MODEL MAKING (Lawson Only)
Entering grades 7th to 9th – Everything from guitars, cars, toys, houses, candy bars, Legos and clothing are designed using CAD and 3-D technology. Ever wanted to design a skate park? How about a colony on Mars? Or maybe a human-sized hamster house! In this class, students will use the latest software to explore the process of design in architecture and everyday objects. Using AutoCAD and Sketch Up 3-D, students will learn the basics of drawing and architectural design to create their own structures. We will also work hands-on with balsa wood models. No prior knowledge with computers is necessary. Students must have access to an email account and bring their own PC or Mac laptop to class each day along with their charger, pencils, eraser and notebook.
