INTRODUCTION TO SCRATCH PROGRAMMING
Entering Grades 2 and 3 -This multimedia adventure is the greatest course for aspiring young coders. Students will create animated adventures and games while learning programming fundamentals with Scratch. With this drag-and-drop platform developed by MIT, they will play with characters and code blocks to set a foundation of computational thinking and problem solving—an essential skill in today’s tech-driven world. Students will learn to program characters to respond and move to any situation. They will learn to create variables, use conditional statements and loops, create and call functions, use operators to respond to any changes and experiment with programming to build creative games and applications. Class sessions include time to work on the program and homework with assistance from the instructor. All the programs and classwork will be saved online and students can have access to their projects from home.
